“And, behold, there was a great earthquake: for the angel of the Lord descended from heaven, and came and rolled back the stone from the door, and sat upon it.” Matthew 28:2.
The Cross is the portal to immortality!
The stone was removed by the Angel, but the living Christ had already come forth with the morning light. The prison-house door of the tomb was opened so that mankind could ascertain that Christ had risen. Mankind had been rescued from death and may indeed receive eternal life.
Rapturous Event
The Day of the Lord’s coming in the air is always eminent. Perhaps today Christ will come with a victorious shout that all believer’s await. “The graves of believers will be opened and the dead in Christ shall rise first, then we who are alive shall be caught up to meet the Lord in the air and so shall we ever be with the Lord. Comfort one another with these words.” (1 Thessalonians 4:13-1)
Christ was set free from the grave. The Resurrection of Christ is the most important event in all of human history and should be celebrated like no other, with Thanksgiving and praise to God. The Resurrection is Proof of the Father’s propitiation. (Propitiation can be defined as something offered to atone.)
The Resurrection is a physical declaration of the judicial verdict from the Supreme Justice of the Court of Heaven. Our sin debt as believer’s has been paid in full. The stone is rolled aside — He is risen for our salvation. Christ has opened the door of restoration for mankind. Our lost relationship to God the Father has been restored by Christ and is available to all who will believe. The tomb that once held death now holds eternal life through Jesus Christ our Savior and Lord.
The historical fact of the rolled away stone, stands as a memorial to Christ our Savior. Heavens door is now open for all who will come to the Cross of the Risen Savior. Christ died for you! On the Cross, Christ’s heel was bruised by Satan, but on the third day, when He arose, He crushed the dragon’s head, for you, and for all men. Genesis 3:15 became a historical fact. God delivered on His promise.
Each Easter, we picture the empty grave, and the stone rolled away. Picture if you will, the angel seated upon it. Won’t you join the angel on the rolled stone? Believe on Christ and be saved (Acts 16:31). For God so Love the world (mankind) that He gave us His only Son so that we could have everlasting life (John 3:16-18).
The stone rolled away is the foundation of the Christian faith. Oh, come sit awhile and watch for the Risen Savior — He is coming soon in the clouds of Glory.
CHRIST THE LIVING WORD
It is interesting that Christ is the Eternal Word (John 1:1, 14), and the words of Christ are eternal life.
The crucified Christ should be the One adored by the heart’s of men. Do you adore Him? “Oh Come let us adore Him; Oh come let us adore Him; Oh come let us adore Him, Christ the Lord.” Christ the LORD is Israel’s Warrior King and He is coming — keep looking up. Keep listening for the shout and the trumpet.
At the point of faith in Christ, a restoration (resurrection) occurs! The Holy Spirit quickens the dormant human spirit, restoring the believer to an eternal relationship with God.
At the point of faith in Christ, we are born again (John 3:3, 5, 7), quickened to eternal life.
With the new-birth comes new knowledge, and therewith, newness of life. The veil that has separated mankind from God since the Fall of Adam, was torn by the Holy Spirit when Christ suffered spiritual and physical death upon the cross. Man is free to step through the curtain to eternal life.
