Fairy Tale Adventures in Odyssey Ah, the adventures we can have in imagination—the wonderful tales which can take us to the places full of fun and fancy that await. Pretense? Yes, that’s it—make believe. It can be some truth with more myth, or much truth and some element of myth attached. Oh, but what a wonderful adventure fairy tales can…
Lasting Pleasures vs. Fleeting Happiness CHRISTIAN INTELLECTUAL STIMULATION Look around you. It is evident everywhere. Humanity is in a “frantic search for happiness.” The pleasures people seek are physical, and physical pleasures are always short-lived, futile, and often have future consequences, which are many times more harmful than the enjoyment they first brought. Self-control, prudence, and recognition are prerequisites to…
The Sufferings of My Afflictions The sufferings of my afflictions, whether temporary or permanent, achieves an eternal weight of glory that does not—cannot—hold me down, but rather lifts me up forever. This physical, earthly dwelling is temporary for my time limit on earth while separated from my Savior. My spiritual dwelling in Heaven has been especially prepared for me as…
Thoughts to Ponder in Your Walk with the Lord READ, LINGER, PROCESS… The fog-mist settles at evening over the Shenandoah River, then at morning it rises to a point of the vanishing—and so are the days of our lives. We appear for a little time and then… vanish away (James 4:14). One must understand that eternity is written upon the…
The Weight of Self People spend much time pursuing ambition, material possessions, and lusts of the flesh and of the sin nature, when infinite peace and joy are available to them every day. People allow peer pressure in the work place, social groups, and other relationships to keep them distracted and competing for temporary happiness and material possessions. Inordinate ambition…
The Doctrine of Grace MAN IS THE RECIPIENT AND BENEFICIARY OF GRACE BECAUSE OF CHRIST Second only to the Doctrine of the Deity of Christ, the most important study we will ever undertake is the Doctrine of Grace—God’s graciousness. We cannot even begin to know our Great God and Savior until we metabolize His grace. The word grace means limitless and…
Unfailing Waters The road in the kingdom is level—no more hills and valleys Justice dwells in the wilderness Righteousness in the forest. The end of Justice shall be quiet confidence The fruit of righteousness shall be peace In happiness we will sing by unfailing waters When Christ reigns from Jerusalem We shall see the King in His glory and perfect…
Armchair Anecdotes To the thief one size fits all. If one cannot swim the great ocean of knowledge then he should go by boat. Leaders of nations in order to start wars, must take the first bullet, politicians the second, their sons the third, and liberals the fourth. Lying is not careless truth—it is lying. The person who can do…
Armchair Anecdotes – Part Two IN SEARCH OF WISDOM Man searcheth, but where shall wisdom be found? And where is the place of understanding? Few knoweth its place nor its price, for it is priceless and its place is not where men look. WISDOM COMETH BY FAITH Wisdom never rests, though she may indeed forever, or for a time, withhold…
Thoughts for Meditation from the Word of God In my distress I called upon the Lord, and cried unto my God; He heard my voice out of His Temple, and my cry came before him, even into His ears (Psalm 18:6) And he rode upon a cherub, and did fly, yea, he did fly upon the wings of the wind…
Words of Wisdom Part One He who is devoid of God’s power to forgive is devoid of God’s power to love. If we cannot forgive, how can we expect God to forgive us? If we say we have not sinned, then the truth is not in us and we speak against ourselves. If we expect honor, integrity, loyalty and faithfulness…
Wisdom’s Simplicity Wisdom is brightest in the day-spring of morn; I have inherited the wind’s song. Wisdom shall flourish like a branch in Spring— I drink from wisdom’s fountain. Wisdom in my soul sustains laughter; I shall flourish in His eternal love hereafter. My children—my glory, my children’s children—my crown. The day is done, oh my soul, sleep in peace,…
Absolutely Commitment and faithfulness are moral virtues which help bind families together. The moral dimension in America has disintegrated to a serious moral disorder. Sex dominates the media, especially TV. To avoid the immoral sexual bombardment, my wife and I mainly watch sports (and even then only a few select games and teams, minus commercials because they too exploit sex),…
Thoughts to Ponder in Your Walk with the Lord READ, LINGER, PROCESS… How many are on a quest for a past that will never return? The past is gone forevermore. We pursue a past that we shall never catch while running from self in the present—these are the good ol’ days. We run to and from the past, rather than…
Thoughts to Ponder in Your Walk with the Lord READ, LINGER, PROCESS… Trillions of people have lived throughout history, and time and destiny have spun these lives together like strands in a fabric that somehow is each one of us, and we each become one blanket that covers oblivion, and we cannot see where we’ve gone, and we look for…
The Eternal State I pray this study of the eternal state will increase your faith, humble your heart, and nourish your soul… for Christ and in Christ, Amen. What happens to the believer after death? Will we be married in Heaven? Will we still be a family in heaven? Just as life begins at physical birth for each of us…
At Home in the Colorado Rockies Memories are shadow-images of the past. Perhaps I can share yesteryear with you in various flickering flashbacks—cherishable memory moments and wild imaginings. Let your imagination paint its own portrait. Exploring the rugged mountain trails before me, I followed other footsteps into the great unknown. Soon, I came to meadows resting on forest floors, covered…
Jesus Christ the God-Man It is extremely important that we understand the uniqueness of our Lord. He is our Savior. Who could ask for anything more? But God, without asking anything more, gave us so much more in the unique person of His Son, even when we were not alive to earn it or to ask for it. The grace…
Principle vs. Principle In the physical world, survival depends on the spiritual. Don’t ask what’s wrong with American morals, ethics, and responsibility. Ask where is the spiritual discernment in each American. America is in a battle for survival, a battle of principle against principle—principle against principalities. Christians must remain true to Christ and true to the calling in Christ—take their…
Disagreement – Tolerance – Judgment If disagreement did not exist, then tolerance would be unnecessary. Real differences exist between real people, therefore tolerance is a necessity to co-existence. Dialogue between persons of differing viewpoints requires respect, not agreement. Tolerance is best defined as we agree to disagree, with respect. The understanding by both parties that two differing views cannot be…
