You can be at peace with God, right now, right where you are: “Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ (Romans 5:1). “Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and you will be saved” (Acts 16:31).
Thank you, Father for sending Jesus Christ your only begotten Son to die in our place on the Cross. We pray that you will bless our time together this evening for Christ’s sake, amen.
The Word of Truth states that God is incomprehensible yet understandable. By way of preparation, please open the Word of Truth (your Bible) and read the following verses before we begin our study: (Job 11:7; Isaiah 40:18; John 14:7; 17:3; and 1 John 5:20).
THEOLOGY:
God gives, man receives. We are designed by God to receive God. God is the aggressor – man the receiver (responder).
God pursues man.
Theology is the pursuit of God so that we can know God.
Theology comes from two words: “theos” which means God, and “logos” meaning word, or rational expression. Therefore theology is the study of God’s Word. That simple. Theology is the rational expressions of God’s Truths.
Theology simply means, defining Terms and Truths in Scripture. Theology means thinking about God. Learning theology (Bible Doctrine) dramatically expands our mind-cepts of God. God’s Word gives us information with which to think ABOUT GOD and RELATE to God. Theology is the study of God and God’s Truths as revealed in God’s Word.
Theology is based on systematic interpretation and presentation of God’s Truths. Theology is concepts of truth systematically arranged and supported by the truths it contains from God’s Word. Systematic Theology is based on historical setting, apologetics, exegetical presentation and conceptual structure – a systematic presentation of Scripture. Theology also includes the recipients of God’s Truths and their culture.
The Bible is a record of the progress of God’s revelation of Himself to mankind. Therefore, theology studies the parts of the whole that make up the entire mosaic of the Bible. THE BIBLE DEFINES TRUTH IN A WORLD OF UNTRUTH.
Theology is thinking about God. The more we think about God the more God affects our lives. The more we think about God, the more our lives affect others. The more we think about God, the LESS we think about ourselves.
God is the source of our knowledge of Him. Christ came to earth to reveal God. The Holy Spirit was sent by God to open the truth of Scripture for all future generations of believers. God has thought of everything. So, what are God’s thoughts? Answer: Scripture declares God’s Thoughts. God’s thoughts are Truth. What is truth? Truth is God. Therefore Truth is Absolute. Christ is the personification of Truth. The Bible is God’s Recorded Revelation of Truth.
Let us assemble together to learn more about our God and Savior, Jesus Christ. LEARN GOD. We will always learn God – it takes forever. The more we know God the more we desire God. We can never be filled. But, we are filled with the Holy Spirit. Learning God gives us all we need to walk in fields of Grace toward Home.
Blessings in Christ.
Happy Studying!
