The continuation of the universe and earth all depend on the omnipotence and immutability of Jesus Christ (Col. 1:17, Heb.1:3).
“Scientific laws” is a misnomer. This is a Divine law.
Science can observe and classify. Only God can guarantee the continuation of these.
The universe will not always exist as it does at the present (II Pet. 3:10-12, Rev. 20:11).
Known scientific laws depend solely on the faithfulness of God (Col. 1:17).
The reason for preserving the universe is to resolve the angelic conflict in human history and to bring many sons into glory (Hebrews 2:10).
The Word of God will survive the destruction of the universe (II Peter 3:10).
Regenerate man in resurrection body will live forever and survive the destruction of the present universe (Heb. 12:26-28).
It is Jesus Christ who holds the universe together by the power of His Word (Heb. 1:3) and holds back eternity so everyone will have the opportunity to appropriate the grace of God. This begins at the point of faith in Jesus Christ, so the angelic conflict will be resolved and ultimately God will be glorified forever and ever.
