Life in Christ
To live, we have the Trinity in us. To die, we enter heaven divorced of corruption. Every day can be a new adventure walking with God in fields of grace. Life in Christ is interesting. It is uniquely yours, and our attitudes must be in line with that of Christ Jesus.
The Lord gave up His rights to us to make our wrongs right. Lay aside your rights and withhold your wrongs, then give them to God. Yes, give God your rights and your wrongs. Let God remove your selfishness and your pride.
Our faith must be confident faith. Our motivation is to let go and watch God (Philippians 3:10; also Philippians 3:3). Paul was the worst in his flesh (vs 4,6,7—see also Colossians 1:10-12 and 15-20). In Colossians 1-18, Paul acclaims Christ as the One who created the universe and holds it together. Christ created the church and holds it together. It is Christ’s power that it dwells us is the same power of Christ’s resurrection—the power of absoluteness. We have Christ’s quiet power which raised Christ and is raising us. This is the same power that saves us and calls us and keeps us saved. Jesus power is resurrection and creation power.
One of the most glorious passages in Scripture is found in Colossians 1:25-27. Jesus died for us so that He might live in us. This is the real mystery and declaration of the Gospel, because of the cross. The cross makes all things possible because the same power source that raised Christ from the dead now resides in every believer—the Holy Spirit, the Godhead. Our struggles are nothing because of His strength in us.
We have been chosen by God not only for redemption but to be the warriors of the cross. We are to fight on the spiritual battlefield with the forces of evil. When we suffer and things seem unfair, we are in a battle with unseen forces. Job’s faith and love for God made Job the perfect battlefield through which God would give Job victory against Satan. We too are actually warriors against forces (1 John 2:14).
God is transforming us in how to be conformed to Christ and how to stand against the confusing temptations of the world—how to overcome our flesh and have victory. Just trust God the Holy Spirit to take care of things and keep moving forward through fields of grace. This is how we glorify God: let God lead us to countless victories as we survive the details of our lives. As we learn to be faithful to God and to each other, we learn how to live victoriously in Christ.
In Ephesians, the believer is equipped with every spiritual blessing: A body, a temple, a mystery, a new self, a bride, and a soldier. Now do you understand our safe position in Christ? Now do you understand our calling in Christ? God has a plan for his children. We are to grow up spiritually through Bible doctrine, life experiences, and trusting and praising our Lord as we fight against unseen forces.
Life is not about me or you, life is about God working His perfect plan in us and through us. The world is unaware of our spiritual battles, but when we stay consistent with the inhale and exhale (study and application) of Bible doctrine, we become winners in Christ who will win the final battle.
