Thoughts to Ponder in Your Walk with the Lord
READ, LINGER, PROCESS…
God knows we cannot stop being human, but He wants us to be more spiritual, so we will be less humanistic. He wants us to be more like Christ, His Son, so we will be less like ourselves.
When I was growing up, I liked skipping flat stones across the surface of the water. As an adult, I have enjoyed skipping stones back across the ages, across cultures—through the Bible.
The world has so much potential. We are here to do our part to help it reach new heights in Christ.
The fleeting nature of our earthly lives should cause the believer to recognize that every moment counts for eternity. Our true citizenship is in Heaven. This is where our values should be placed, because of Christ. Examine the reality of your life in Christ. Is it pleasing to our Savior, or is it pleasing to your flesh? Which is more important?
The term “theology,” according to its etymology, is a compound of two Greek words, “theos”—God, and logos—speech or expression. Both Christ, the Living Word, and the Bible, the Written Word, are the “Logos of God.”
The function of systematic theology is to unfold or roll out the Scriptures. The job of the pastor/teacher is the maturing of believers for the work of daily ministry in application to the details of life. Get with it, pastors!
The God of Glory stepped out of Heaven to pay for my sin debts. How can I live habitually in sin anymore? Praise and worship should be the ultimate sensation of the soul.
Living for Christ prepares us to die for Christ. Death is a promotion to the believer—demotion to the unbeliever.
The greatest hope of life is the death, cross, Gospel, and resurrection of Christ.
At the point of personal faith in Christ, God gives to us His righteousness, what His holy character demands of us. God’s perfect righteousness is necessary because we have none of our own. We have been declared guilty by the highest Supreme Court of Heaven. All have sinned (Romans 3:23). We sin because of our nature—it is natural to us. Sin is a manifestation of our nature.
“Cut down out of time; God walked in the circuit of heaven” (Job 22:14,16).
Earthly prosperity does not necessarily mean it is from God. The reverse may be true. Wealth often induces spiritual blindness and indifference to the less fortunate. An uppity attitude is typical of living in the flesh, praising self-achievement.
Place is emptied by God are void of life.
Hate makes waste of the soul and warps it.
It is in God that we learn to lose ourselves for all eternity.
Jesus, my Lord, you are hidden in my heart. I am hidden in you.
I love thee, Lord, to the height, the breadth, and the depth in all the places my heart will stretch—to the end of being in eternal rest.
