Creation

In this study, we will examine God’s Word concerning creation. We will also view science and the so-called “scientific” laws of the universe from the Biblical perspective.

Note: We identify the words spoken by Christ in red, the same as is presented in the Red Letter Edition of the King James Bible.

Our study is divided as follows:

  • CREATION
  • SCIENCE AND THE BIBLE
  • THE DOCTRINE OF DIVINE LAWS AND THE UNIVERSE

“The Lord has prepared His Throne in the heavens, and His kingdom rules over all. Bless the Lord you His angels, that excel in strength, that do His commandments, hearkening unto the voice of His Word. Bless you the Lord, all you His hosts, you ministers of His, that do His pleasure. Bless you the Lord, all His works in all places of His dominion; bless the Lord O my soul. Bless the Lord, O my soul. O Lord my God, you are very great; you are clothed with honor and majesty, who covers yourself with light as with a garment; who stretches out the heavens like a curtain; Who lays the beams of His chambers in the waters; who walks upon the wings of the wind; Who makes His angels spirits, His ministers a flaming fire; Who laid the foundations of the earth, that it should not be removed forever. You covered it with the deep as with a garment; the waters stood above the mountains. At your rebuke they fled; at the voice of your thunder they (waters) hastened away. They go up by the mountains; they go down by the valleys unto the place which you have founded for them” (Psalm 103:19 through 104:8).

“The Lord reigns; let the peoples tremble (reverence). He sits between the Cherubim; let the earth be moved” (Psalm 99:1).

“He appointed (placed) the number of the stars; He calls them all by their names” (Psalm 147:4).

“Before the mountains were brought forth, or ever you had formed the earth and the world, even from everlasting to everlasting, you are God” (Psalm 90:2).

“The heavens are yours; the earth also is yours; as for the world and the fullness thereof, you have founded them. The north and the south, you have created them” (Psalm 89:11).

“The Lord possessed me (Bible doctrine) in the beginning of His way before His works of old. I (wisdom – Bible doctrine) was set up from everlasting, from the beginning (which was not a beginning), or ever the earth was. When He prepared the heavens (universe) I was there; when He set a compass (made the earth round) upon the face of the deep” (Proverbs 8:22-23,27).

GOD SAW US CREATED BEFORE CREATION

“Your eyes did see my substance, yet being unperfect (unformed); and in your book all my members were written, which in continuance were fashioned, when as yet there was none of them” (Psalm 139:16).

“Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places. According as he has chosen us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love” (Ephesians 1:3,4).

GENESIS CREATION

God’s revelation of creation is recorded in the Book of Genesis for our edification by and through His servant Moses. Neither Moses nor any human were present at the original creation of the universe. Therefore, only God’s Word reveals, with complete accuracy and authority, how the universe came about. “He (God) made known his ways unto Moses, His acts unto the children of Israel” (Psalm 103:7).

The first translation of the Bible, from the Hebrew to the Greek, is called the Septuagint.

During translation, the original creation and the sequence of events, which occurred during the restoration, appear to be merged, diluted, and even hidden, so that neither is clearly distinguishable from the other.

The original creation of the universe including planet earth is described in Genesis 1:1.

CREATION – RESTORATION AND PREPARATION

SUMMARY OF EVENTS FROM GENESIS 1:1 TO GENESIS 2:2

In an instant at a point in eternity past, God created the universe and the planet earth (Genesis 1:1). In two literal 24-hour days, God restored the earth (Genesis 1:2-8). In days three, four, five, and six, God prepared the earth for man’s habitation (Genesis 1:9-26). Also in day six, God created man and his “help fit” (his counterpart) Woman (her name at the time) (Genesis 1:27). On day seven, God had no more work of preparation to perform, so He stopped work (Genesis 2:1-2 literal summary).

The content of the book of Genesis is the embryo of most of the major doctrines in the Bible, for example: The origin of life, the universe, the earth, fall of humanity, the sin nature, judgement, spiritual death, redemption, spiritual life, man’s soul, physical death, physical life, civilizations, nationalism, the laws of divine establishment, divine institutions, the trinity, and dispensations, to name a few.

The main theme of Genesis is God’s grace. Genesis demonstrates God’s eternal existence and power; His blessings and provisions for man; man’s original relationship; man’s failure to maintain his original relationship; God’s provisions after the fall, and man’s failure to appropriate these provisions. The Book of Genesis, and in fact the entire Bible, could accurately be called “The Book of God’s Grace” or simply “Grace.”

An interesting revelation throughout the Bible is that God continually provides reconciliation for man. By contrast (and in total defiance) man, viewing God through his sin nature, tries to reconcile himself to God. This is not only blasphemous but totally contradictory to God’s grace provision through His Son.

The word “bereshith,” translated “in the beginning” in Genesis 1:1, is rendered “biblos genesis.” Genesis is thus a fitting title for the first book of the Bible.

“In the beginning, God…”

“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God” (John 1:1). This verse describes the second person of the Trinity – Jesus Christ.

Chronologically, John 1:1 is one of the oldest references in the Bible because it describes eternity when only the Godhead existed.

“In the beginning God created the heaven (heavens) and the earth” (Genesis 1:1). This verse depicts the original creation.

Both verses begin with the same statement – “In the beginning God.” In both, there is no definite article (time factor) which means that God has always existed.

Thus, both verses could have been more precisely translated as, “In a beginning, which was not a beginning, in eternity past, God always existed,” or, “At any point in eternity past or future, God has always existed.”

In Genesis 1:1, Moses eludes to a point in eternity past when God caused something to happen: the original creation of the universe. While in John 1:1, John talks about the eternal existence of God in eternity.

Genesis 1:1 is the only verse in the first six verses that presents the “original” creation of the universe. There were not six or seven days involved in the original creation. Creation of the entire universe was instantaneous. God commanded it to be and it became existent, immediately. It occurred perhaps billions of years before man, or perhaps even angels, were created (Psalm 19:1; 33:6&9; Hebrews 1:2,10; 2 Peter 3:5&6). The creation was accomplished by God the Son (John 1:1-3,10).

As previously stated, the six day period recorded in Genesis 1:3-31 is not a record of the original creation. These verses describe the “restoration and preparation” of the earth for habitation by man.

The time of creation and the antiquity of the universe are unknown. But what is known is that God the Son performed the act (Hebrews 11:1; John 1:1-3,10).

CHRONOLOGICAL SEQUENCE OF CREATION

At a point in eternity past, there was only God the Father, God the Son, God the Holy Spirit, and the Word of God. Then, God created the universe. At a another point, God created angels. At a later point in eternity past, God created man. So, the order of creation went like this: The Godhead always existed (John 1:1). God (Jesus Christ) created the universe (Genesis 1:1; John 1:3,10), then angels, then man (Matthew 19:4; Genesis 1:26-27). These three creations were distinct and occurred at different points in eternity past.

At some point after the creation of angels, perhaps millions of years, all creation which existed at that time (the universe) were cursed by God’s judgement.

The original universe, angels, and Adam, were created perfect. God is perfect, therefore He cannot create anything imperfect. But, through negative volition (choice), satan, followed by one third of the angels, rebelled against God (Isaiah 14:12-15; Revelation 12:4). God’s cursing resulted in judgement, changing original creation (including the universe and planet earth), which resulted in “chaos of the earth,” as in “…and darkness was on the face of the deep” (Genesis 1:2).

LIGHT AND DARKNESS

God did not create darkness. Darkness is the result of sin in the universe from the point of satan’s fall. Heretofore, darkness had not existed, there was only light – God’s eternal light.

God Himself lit the entire universe (John 1:5,8,9; 1 John 1:5). Now, I am aware of the verse in Isaiah 45:7, which states that “God created darkness,” but in the original, it means that God “pulled the plug” or turned off the light, in judgement. Even more, it means that sin caused the light (God’s true eternal light) to be withdrawn. Sin caused darkness. You must remember and understand that eternal light is the visible expression of God’s perfect essence. So, Isaiah is saying that God, who is eternal light, judged sin by removing His light, causing or resulting in darkness.

The soul of unregenerate (unsaved) man is in darkness (spiritual death) because the light of God is not in him – no human spirit, no relationship or connection to God (Luke 1:79; Romans 2:19; John 3:19,20; Acts 26:18; 2 Corinthians 6:14; 1 John 2:11).

By contrast, the believer is in light (born of the Spirit, has a human spirit) because he has received God’s eternal light – God’s eternal life. (Ephesians 5:8,14). The believer is brought out of darkness into light, his relationship to the Living God is restored (reconnected) (Luke 1:77-79; 1 Peter 1:9; Titus 3:5-7).

God’s light is only visible in the third heaven, in Eden The Garden Of God – the Throne Room, where the Godhead exists. Lucifer, prior to his fall, was guardian of the Throne Room and chief among the angels (Ezekiel 28:12b-15a). He was the head angel, the one with the most power and the greatest intellect of any created being. Can you imagine the arrogance and stupidity of lucifer in rebelling against God?

I think we can all see the dangers of ego-arrogance. Beware, one and all.

God’s light is invisible to us (1 Timothy 6:16). Darkness is the result of sin – the first sin, which was committed by lucifer (satan). He was lucifer before the fall, and he became satan after the fall.

God’s light is His essence, His “visibleness,” as it were. Light exemplifies God’s being. God’s eternal light filled the universe before the fall of satan. God’s judgement on sin in the universe resulted in a cursing (darkness). Sin in the universe resulted in cursing (darkness) (Ezekiel 28:15b-19). In His day (the future), Christ shall light the earth from one horizon to the other (Luke 17:24).

God’s eternal light is a source within itself, of itself. We do not see light in all of its splendor (1 Timothy 6:16). We see color because of light.

In Genesis 1:2 and following, God restored the earth for habitation. God, in a demonstration of His mercy, restored the earth (which was wrapped in darkness), creating a new and different light – the sun, moon, and stars (Genesis 1:3,4,14-18; Psalm 136:7-9).

Light and darkness alternate (the cycle of day and night) and are allowed to coexist as a reminder from God of sin and evil (darkness) verses divine good and salvation (light) – light verses darkness. Therefore, man has a constant (daily) reminder of his need for redemption out of darkness and into the light. Plus, the cycle of day and night is a constant reminder of events that occurred before man, before time, in eternity past. In other words, when the sun rises, God is reminding us of our need to be redeemed, to receive His Son, to receive eternal light and His eternal life. Then, by contrast, when the sun goes down, causing darkness, we are reminded of sin and judgement. Hence, we are reminded daily to choose between the “kingdom of darkness” and “the kingdom of light.” Satan rules the kingdom of darkness. God rules the kingdom of light.

At physical birth, humanity is born into the kingdom of darkness (spiritually dead) (Ephesians 2:1-22).

We remain there, condemned (John 3:18), unless we decide to trust Christ for our salvation. At that point, God the Holy Spirit quickens the human spirit (turns on the light with eternal life) and simultaneously transfers the new believer into the kingdom of light forever (John 3:15-21; John 6:63; Romans the entire fifth chapter; Romans 6:23). And nothing can separate the believer from God (Romans 8:1; 8:35-39; Romans 14:8,9; 2 Corinthians 1:22).

All unregenerate (unsaved) members of humanity reside in the kingdom of darkness. God sent His only begotten (or, more accurately, His uniquely-born) Son to die on the cross to redeem mankind from darkness… I am come a light into the world, that whosoever believes on me should not abide in darkness (John 12:46). Each and every person ever born has the opportunity to choose to trust Christ (Acts 16:31) to be redeemed from darkness and judgement.

Christ is the light that gives (restores) spiritual life. “In Him was life (eternal life); and the life was the light of men. And the light shines in darkness; and the darkness overcame it not” (John 1:4-5).

“This is the record God has given unto us (believers) eternal life. And this life is in his son. He that has the son (believers) has life, and he that has not the son of God (unbelievers) has not life” (1 John 5:12-13).

Choose this day whom you will believe. Jesus Christ provided and offers everyone eternal life. Will you come to Him? And you will not come to me, that you might have life (John 5:40).

And this is the condemnation, that light (Jesus Christ) is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. For everyone that does evil hates the light, neither comes to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved. But he that does truth comes to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God” (John 3:19-21).

“Then spoke Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world; he that follows me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life (John 8:12).

While you have light (Christ in the world), believe in the light, that (here’s the reason) you may be the children of light”(John 12:36).

God, in Genesis 1:2-31, restored the earth for habitation by man. The earth was already created in eternity past as described by “had become” (literally) in verse 2, and by “that then was” in 2 Timothy 3:5,6. (A literal word for word translation and exegesis of Genesis 1:1-8 can be found later in this study.)

So, the order of the events of creation affecting the earth went like this: Creation – (light) verse 1; Chaos – (darkness) verse 2; Restoration – (light and darkness) verse 3.

Restoration was accomplished by radiated light (or incubation) by the Holy Spirit. Light produces heat. Heat makes the earth habitable and gives it life. God restored the earth by light, and God restores the believer by light. At salvation, God “plugs us in,” if you will.

Our soul becomes lighted by our renewed or restored human spirit. This light is the same light that Adam had when he was created, but lost when he sinned. This light in humanity’s soul is our human spirit, which is regenerated by the Holy Spirit at the point of salvation, which is faith in Christ (reference Acts 16:31; John 3:3,5,7). So, God regenerates or restores the believer to his original position of relationship with Him. This restoration is made possible because Christ died for mankind, and the justice of God is propitiated (satisfied) with Christ’s payment for sin (the fall of the human race – Romans 3:25; 1 John 2:2; 4:10).

Sin was paid for and put away once and for all (Hebrews 9:26; 10:10,12,18) nearly 2000 years ago by Christ. Therefore, sin itself is not the issue in salvation. Faith, or lack thereof, in Christ’s death and resurrection is the only issue between God and every human being (Romans chapter 5; the entire book of John; Ephesians 2:8&9; Luke 24:44, and the entire Bible for that matter).

As Christ hung on the cross, God poured out His judgement for the personal sins of the world – the past, present, and future sins of the entire human race.

“And it was about the sixth hour, and there was darkness (a darkness totally absent of light, literally) over all the earth until the ninth hour. And the sun was darkened, and the veil of the Temple was torn in the middle” (Luke 23:44,45).

God’s judgement on Christ was so horrible, so humiliating, so painful, and so terrifying that God would not allow anyone to view Christ’s misery. No human being has ever come close to the excruciating pain and suffering that Christ endured as He took the sins of the world into His body and died spiritually in His humanity. Even God and the Holy Spirit turned their backs when the sins of the world hit Christ. The perfectly innocent humanity of Jesus Christ was executed and died spiritually first, then physically, for you and for me.

And when it was all over, salvation was completed – It is finished (John 19:30).

God’s judgement on Christ caused total darkness over the world for three hours, just as darkness covered the universe when sin originated in satan.

“But the earth had become desolate and empty; with darkness on the face of the deep.” The Hebrew word for darkness in Genesis 1:2 is choshek, which means “a darkness totally absent of light,” therefore, no heat. The word for “deep” is tehom, which means “raging waters.” This indicates that raging freezing water destroyed the surface of the earth. The total absence of heat resulted in an ice pack around the earth.

“And the spirit of God radiated heat producing melted waters” (literal translation of Genesis 1:2). The word for “waters” is hamajim, which refers to “melted water.” The word “moved” is rachaph and means “to incubate.” So, God radiated heat and melted the water.

If you think about it for a minute, the time-spance is endless. Endless, incalculable time becomes timelessness. Eternity is timelessness. Eternity is beyond the known universe, beyond time and reason, to a point incomprehensible to man. A place where no one has gone before until Jesus Christ (Hebrews 10:12,13). But now all men can freely go by faith in Jesus Christ and His finished work on the cross (Hebrews 10:10).

SUMMARY OF CREATION THROUGH THE FALL

(Genesis 1:1 to Genesis 3:6)

  • Between Genesis 1:1 & 1:2, a catastrophe occurred in the universe.
  • This catastrophe included the fall of satan in Isaiah 14:12-17 and Ezekiel 28:11-19, and the fall of one third of the angels (Revelation 12:4). Whatever else occurred, God has not revealed.
  • God’s curse on the angelic fall turned the pre-Adamic earth into desolation and chaos (Genesis 1:2).
  • All creation was created perfect (Ezekiel 28:15), therefore, the earth was not originally chaotic (Isaiah 45:18).
  • Before the earth was restored, divine judgement of fallen angels had been pronounced (Matthew 25:41).
  • Between Genesis 1:1 and 1:2, the earth was packed in ice.
  • Genesis 1:3-31 describes the restoration of the earth for habitation.
  • Preparation and restoration was completed (Genesis 2:1).
  • The earth, being prepared for all man’s needs, was now ready for the arrival of man. So God created man, and the angelic conflict carried over into human history as demonstrated by the attack of satan on the Woman (Genesis 2:7; 3:1-6).

RESTORATION/REGENERATION

The helpless condition of the unrestored earth is analogous to the helpless condition of unregenerate man. The work of the Holy Spirit to restore earth is the same work that the Holy Spirit does to restore the believer.

Like the primitive earth, man’s soul is in darkness, under spiritual death (2 Corinthians 4:3,4), and only the regenerating work of the Holy Spirit of God can bring life to earth and to man. Man can only respond in faith to the finished work of salvation by Jesus Christ on Calvary’s cross to be restored to relationship with God the Father. The work of salvation has been completed by the Father through the Son. Salvation is personal and is accomplished by the regenerating ministry of the Spirit (Matthew 19:28; John chapter 3; Titus 3:5). All three members of the Godhead take part in man’s salvation and the restoration of the earth. The Holy Spirit brings the believer out of darkness into light, just as He brought the earth out of darkness into light (Luke 1:79; 1 Peter 2:9).

GENESIS 1:1-8 – A LITERAL TRANSLATION

Note: Be sure to open your Bible and compare verse for verse Genesis 1:1-8 with the literal translation that follows:

“In a beginning, which was not a beginning, in eternity past, Elohim (the Son) created out of nothing the entire universe including planet earth (Genesis 1:1).

“But the earth had become desolate and empty with darkness on the face of the raging waters. And the Spirit of God radiated heat, producing melted waters” (Genesis 1:2).

“And Elohim (the Father) said, ‘Light, be!’ And light was” (Genesis 1:3).

“And Elohim saw that the light good. And Elohim caused to separate between the light and between the darkness” (Genesis 1:4).

“And Elohim called the light Day, but the darkness he called Night. So it became evening, getting darker, and it became dawn, getting lighter Day One” (Genesis 1:5).

“And Elohim (the Father) said, ‘Atmosphere, be’ in the middle of the waters, and caused to divide between the waters under the atmosphere and the waters above the atmosphere” (Genesis 1:6).

“And Elohim (the Son) manufactured the atmosphere out of already existing material and caused to separate between the waters under the atmosphere and between the waters above the atmosphere, and so it came to pass as previously described” (Genesis 1:7).

“And Elohim called the atmosphere Heaven. And it became evening, getting darker, and it became dawn, getting lighter Day Two” (Genesis 1:8).

ULTIMATE RESTORATION OF CREATION/DELIVERANCE

The heavens, the angels, the universe, all creation groans (yearns) for ultimate redemption. “For the earnest expectation of the creation waits for the manifestation of the sons of God. For (because) the creation was made subject to vanity, not willingly but by reason of him who has subjected the same in hope. Because the creation itself also shall be delivered from the bondage of corruption into the glorious liberty of the children of God. For we know that the whole creation groans and travails in pain until now. And not only they (all other creation), but ourselves also, who have the first fruits of the spirit (salvation and the result of knowing the doctrine of salvation), even we ourselves (believers) groan (yearn) within ourselves, waiting for the adoption, that is, the redemption of our body” (Romans 8:19-23).

God will redeem all creation at the destruction of the present universe, when He makes all things new.

PREPARATION FOR ULTIMATE REDEMPTION OF THE BELIEVER

Jesus Christ is preparing a place for each believer. In my Father’s house are many mansions; if it were not so I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you (and I do), I will come again, and receive you unto myself, that where I am, there you may be also (John 14:2-3; reference also 2 Corinthians 5:1,2,17-21; Galatians 1:4,5; 2:16,20; 3:26.

When humanity was originally created, he was created perfect, as we have already discussed (Genesis 1:26,27). Not only was man created perfectly, but all of nature plants, trees, creatures of the sea, beasts of the field, and fowl of the air. The entire earth was restored in total perfection as a part of God’s perfect provision for man (Genesis 1:28-2:1).

Stop and think for a minute… a perfect environment! But, what does perfect environment mean?

Perfect environment means that there was no aggression, no disease, nothing was defiled, no sickness, no aging, and no death, no bad weather, no tornadoes or hurricanes or freezing weather. Just absolute perfect environment. No depression, no boredom, no loneliness, no unhappiness, no sadness, no tempers or crying or ego. Jesus Christ personally came to the garden every day in the cool of the evening and taught God’s Word. All life on the earth enjoyed perfect harmony, perfect peace. Every need was provided by God. There was no work. Man did not have to work for a living from sunrise to sunset, his food was provided (Genesis 2:5). There were no rain storms nor hail. Rain did not fall upon the earth until after the fall (Genesis 2:5,6). How many times have we read these verses of creation but never really thought about the implications? In other words, what is really being said that is not quickly perceived as being said?

Man’s entertainment was life itself, all living creatures were in perfect harmony with each other. There was no sin in creation. A book, a very fascinating book, could be written on perfect creation. Just think about how it must have been before there was the sin nature man’s human nature. Just as it was so shall it be! God will restore creation to perfection at the end of the millennium after the great white throne judgement, when satan, fallen angels, unregenerate humanity, and sin, will be cast into the lake of fire. God will then create a new universe, a new Heaven and a new earth. There will be no sin there! Total bliss will exist for all God’s creation, forever and ever (Revelation 20:7 through 22:21).

If you want to be a part of God’s new creation, then you must decide what you are going to do with Christ. Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and you will be saved” (Acts 16:31). Believing is receiving. When you believe, you receive Jesus Christ Himself, and He will never leave you nor forsake you (John 1:12; Romans 8:35-39).

SCIENCE AND THE BIBLE

“Know ye that the Lord, He is God; it is He who has made us, and not we ourselves; we are His people, and the sheep of His pasture” (Psalm 100:3).

“Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the Word of God (God spoke, and the universe and life became existent) so that things which are seen (all material creation) were not made of things which do appear” (Hebrews 11:3).

Philosophy is never an exact science – philosophy is speculation. Therefore the conclusions of evolutionistic philosophy are no more valid than their premise.

Scientists and astronomers search the earth and the universe, seeking the origin of life and matter. But they are so blinded to creation and all the proof thereof that they cannot see it staring them in the face. How ironic. Man is in the forest but he won’t acknowledge it because of the trees.

God has preserved the dinosaur fossils, the earth, moon, stars, and the universe as proof of His creation and eternal existence, yet man clings to a flimsy, unproven theory of evolution rather than the physical evidence of a supreme Creator.

The prehistoric, pre-chaotic earth was apparently occupied by satan after his fall from the third heaven. The angelic conflict of rebellion against God led to destruction of the originally perfect environment of the universe and earth. Thus, the earth became desolate and empty – no plant or animal life, then the earth was packed in ice. There was no way anything could evolve. No possibility for micro-organisms to become man. No possibility for evolution of any kind.

There is no indication as to how long the earth was without life and in total helplessness (empty) “without form and void” (Genesis 1:2).

Much controversy has arisen throughout the past 150 years or so, involving conflict between the scientific community’s opinions and the facts of creation, as contained in the book of Genesis. But this is because creation (Genesis 1:1) and restoration (Genesis 1:2-8) are two separate occurrences.

There need never be a conflict between the Bible in the original languages and the scientific community. Although scientific data in the Bible is limited, what is stated is factual. However, the Bible is not a scientific textbook. Whenever the Bible comments on scientific subjects, it is totally accurate. Thus, science must adjust its theoretics to conform to the Bible. All that science seeks to categorize and classify is designed by God. There is nothing new under the sun. Man just discovers what God has created.

Science cannot confirm the Bible. The Bible will in some cases confirm science. If scientific speculation does not line up with the Bible, then it is wrong and will continue to be so. The Bible will always be accurate as originally written.

There exists the following examples of science and technology as presented in the Bible long before man discovered them:

  • Weapons Technology – Matthew 24:22 and Jeremiah 50:9.
  • Medical Hygiene (the washing of hands was laughed at by “modern-doctor scoffers” of the time) – Exodus 15:26 and Deuteronomy 23:12,13.
  • Circumcision – Genesis 17:10-12.
  • Pathways In The Sea  – Psalm 8:8 and Isaiah 43:16.
  • Round Earth – Job 26:7, Isaiah 40:22 and Luke 17:34-36.
  • Sub-atomic Particles – Hebrews 11:3.
  • Meteorological Cycle – Ecclesiastes 1:6,7 and Job 36:27,28.
  • Global TV Coverage – Matthew 24:15 and Revelation 11:8-10.

List compiled by Chuck Missler.

DOCTRINE OF THE DIVINE LAWS AND THE UNIVERSE

There is no such thing as the “scientific” laws of the universe. “Scientific laws” is a misnomer. The continuation of the universe, all life, gravity, the sun, moon, and planets, everything that is anything is totally dependent upon who and what God is. And God is not only the Creator, He is the Sustainer. The omnipotence and immutability of Christ sustains the universe and all life (Colossians 1:17; Hebrews 1:3; John 1:3,10).

Science did not develop these laws and science cannot enforce them. Science can only observe, experiment, speculate, calculate, define, categorize, classify, confirm, and apply the already existing divine forces and laws of God’s creation. Christ wrote the laws, and it is He who sustains them.

A NEW UNIVERSE

Jesus Christ sustains the universe. He will do so until the angelic conflict involving human history is completed. At that time, God will destroy the present universe, sin, and satan, and create a new universe, a new earth and a new Heaven (Revelation 20:10; 21:1,5). This new universe will be more than a restoration, it will be a new creation. It will be minus sin.

There will be no memory of things present (Isaiah 65:17). “For as the new heavens and the new earth, which I will make, shall remain before me, saith the Lord, so shall your seed and your name remain” (Isaiah 66:22). Be sure to reference Revelation 21:1-6 as well.

The Word of God will survive the destruction of the present universe (2 Peter 3:10).

Believers in their new resurrection body will survive the destruction of the universe and live forever with God (Hebrews 12:26-28; Revelation 21:1-7).

Jesus Christ is holding back His final judgement, the destruction of the universe, and eternity, so that those in the human race who will, can appropriate God’s grace. Grace to you all and peace through Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior.

There shall be no need for the sun nor moon in the new universe, for God himself shall be its light (Revelation 21:23-25; 22:1-5). The universe will be created anew, the way it was before the entrance of sin into the perfection of creation in eternity past. God was the light of the universe in eternity past and he will be the light of eternity future. In other words, everything in the universe will be recreated to be as it was before the fall of lucifer, son of the morning star (satan).

JOHN’S EYEWITNESS ACCOUNT OF ETERNITY FUTURE

“And he showed me a pure river of water of life, clear as crystal, proceeding out of the Throne of God and the Lamb (Jesus Christ). In the midst of the street of it, and on either side of the river, the tree of life, which bore twelve fruits, and yielded her fruit every month, and the leaves of the tree were for the healing of nations. And there shall be no more curse, but (because) the Throne of God and of the Lamb shall be in it, and his servants shall serve him (the Lamb – Jesus Christ); And they shall see his face; and his name shall be in their foreheads. And there shall be no night there; and they need no lamp (candle), neither light of the sun; for (here’s the reason) the Lord God gives them light, and they shall reign forever and ever” (Revelation 22:1-5).

Therefore, God must destroy the universe, darkness, and sin from existence. All those who remain in darkness (unbelievers) without the light of God – without their human spirit – will perish along with the universe, for ever and ever.

The believer’s soul, in new resurrection body, will never perish, forever and ever.

“I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, the first and the last” (Revelation 22:13).

Everything from the hand of God will be merged into eternity future and eternity shall be as it was in eternity past, before sin (Luke 2:10-14; Colossians 1:12-20; 3:1-4; 1 Timothy 1:9,10,14-17; 2:46; 6:15).

Ultimate redemption of all creation will take place at the end of time, and is made possible by Jesus Christ (Revelation 21&22). During the interim, God is creating a new species of humans (believers) who will be higher than angels – a new species for a new creation of Heaven and earth.

Jesus Christ in his humanity became lower than angels, submitting to the cross to redeem fallen man and creation. Believers will share his heirship and his sonship and in our resurrection bodies we will be superior to angels. Believers in the church age will be royalty in Heaven as members of the royal family of God (1 Peter 2:9; Romans 8:14; 2 Corinthians 6:18; Hebrews 2:10; 12:5; James 1:18; 1 John 3:1; Romans 8:17; Galatians 3:29; 4:7; Ephesians 3:6; Titus 3:7; Hebrews 1:14; 6:17; 11:7; James 2:5; 1 Peter 3:7).

If the Bible has not been a consideration or an integral part of your life, perhaps you have missed the answers to life’s questions, to life’s problems, and the supreme knowledge of the plan of God – the redemption of creation.

If you have not believed in the finished work of Jesus Christ on the cross, which will save you from darkness and destruction, then you will perish in darkness and destruction. You are condemned in your position of darkness by the same Jesus Christ who died to save you.

Please, if you have not received Jesus Christ as your personal Savior (John 1:12), for your own sake, for your own salvation, open your Bible and prayerfully read the verses listed below. As an unbeliever, these verses describe exactly how you too can be restored to a relationship with God through His Son. Christ died so that you can be saved from sin, from satan, from darkness, from eternal condemnation. Please, open your Bible and find your eternal life, your eternal salvation, which requires nothing other than your belief. God has done the work for you.
