Christian Leadership and the Pastor

Christian Leadership and the Pastor

When one has authority, one has great opportunity to take or to give—Christian leadership should manifest Christ. A true leader builds up other people wherever he goes. Godly leadership is secure, persevering, always exhorting, always giving, always considerate, always humble. Christian leadership demands courage and steadfastness.

The attribute of humility attracts followers who sincerely want to emulate this type of leadership. Spiritual production is achieved when God leads the leader to take truth to a world seduced by untruth.

God has called each believer to ministry—ministries of every kind, and God entrusts the pastor with sacred responsibilities. This calling is a trust relationship from God in one’s testimony at work, at play, at home, and must be guarded by God’s armor— God’s Holy Word and God’s Holy Spirit controlling our thinking. The pastor is the shepherd of one flock, and his flock should be his top priority. It is the pastor’s mandate from God that he shepherd his flock and bring them to spiritual maturity (“perfect/perfection” in the Bible). The pastor must not be distracted by worldly things or by other churches. Those churches have their own shepherd who falls under the same mandate from God. Again, the pastor’s main priority (outside of studying the Word) is to shepherd is own flock.

Bible Doctrine must be renewed by each of us, daily, as we walk in our own fields of grace. We represent God as witnesses to God’s integrity, God’s love, and God’s light in this darkened world. Our life as sanctified believers has been set apart to God for the purposes of God. Therefore, the utilization of 1 John 1:9, when necessary, becomes the most important issue and daily function of the maturing believer and of the pastor.

Fellowship with God is unexplainable and undeniable to the confessing Christian. God executes His plan through the fellowship of the Holy Spirit and the inculcation and application of Bible doctrine to every detail of life.
