By His Stripes

Christ stepped down from His throne over the universe that He might save the perishing. Christ came to do the Father’s will, which was to give His life to save me. Christ came down to die on my cross—to pay for my iniquity (Hebrews 10:5-7). “A body thou hast prepared for me.”

We could not have endured the light of Christ’s presence if He came from Heaven in all his brilliance. Christ’s glory was shrouded within the veil of his visible human form. A body like ours enshrined the infinite. The omnipotent God of the universe cloaked His glory in the most humble of men. Christ came in the body of our humiliation (Philippians 3:21). In our likeness, but without the sin nature. He possessed no beauty, but His true beauty and glory is beyond our highest imaginings.

Christ drew near to us—He came to rescue us from the clutches of death to give us the light of His love—His very own eternal life. Christ came to make the Father real and visible to us (John 1:14). Our Savior is our Creator—a friend to sinners. Jesus Christ is the divine attraction to mankind. Jesus Christ is truly “God among us; God with us.”

God manifested Himself in the flesh, but without the nature to sin that came from Adam, for His nature is divine. Christ was treated by men as we deserve to be treated by God (Isaiah 53:5). He took our death that we may have His life.

Praise the Lord, our Redeemer.
