The tangled false self (embraced by most of us) struggles subconsciously with a myriad of mental issues. Perhaps from childhood struggles of pain, lack of affirmation, fears, anxieties, embarrassments, failure (real or imagined). The way we deal with the problem details of our thinking-reactions determines our lifestyle. What empties or fills our thinking-reactions may be true, imagined, or emotional.
The journey from childhood to adulthood can be a difficult one, and our ability to cope with all the issues determines who we become emotionally. When the need is emotional, we turn to the physical answer, which is pleasurable fulfillment for satisfaction, but the pleasure is temporary and it does not truly satisfy the struggles within our mentality. Do we have a mental attitude of well-being? Is that attitude of mental well-being true or is it false?
Pleasure is never full; pleasure doesn’t fill us long enough, so we become addicted to enslavement for satisfaction.
Emotional needs can, and usually do, become dominant forces in our thinking, and physical satisfaction becomes a way of life. We find temporary happiness for a permanent need. False fulfillment is never full.
Happiness is so important to our human psyche that if we aren’t emotionally satisfied, we just keep filling the empty tank with worldliness. If we value ourselves (self-respect) then our need for physical satisfaction becomes less empowering, emotionally and physically.
Background music comes from two sources, outside and/or inside. A life of wisdom and virtue in the Lord is like background music that is required by the soul-intrinsic when you are energized by the Holy Spirit. Bible doctrine fills the soul. It is both the soul-needs and the spirit-needs that man must learn to fill with God, not self-satisfaction or self-indulgence.
Keep physical satisfaction on the shelf… instead of the Bible. Honor Christ, rather than your body.
We are created to enjoy spiritual drama with our Creator (and no, this does not refer to ecstatics). Man and self are not permanent entities, God is. He came to seek us and save us and free us from the world, the flesh, and the devil. Make sense?
The fruit of evil cannot replace the fruit of the Spirit. The temporary fixes of the world are tasty but counterfeit. A flourishing mental life is the way we are designed to live. Responding to God in an open, dedicated relationship is the ultimate province of true satisfaction. The more time we spend learning Christ, and the more mental satisfaction we find in discovering God, the more we recognize the counterfeit worlds around us. All is vanity.
Life is a mental thing, meant to be spiritually complete in a permanent relationship with Christ. Be filled! Fill up with the music of the Kingdom of Heaven, not the world. The world is a physical thing. Heaven is a spiritual thing.
Physical and material satisfaction become irrelevant and less satisfying compared to the deeper spiritual filling of the soul. This comes only through the Word of God. Worldly happiness? That’s an oxymoron because the physical is unreal, unfulfilling, and counterfeit, even when it seems so right.
Idleness is not good for humanity. Pampered flesh is not ever full. Be filled with the Spirit.
The world is such a trivial fraud. Physical satisfactions are self-desperation in the light of the heavenly message of spiritual reality.
Life with Christ is surreal. Take up your cross. It will carry you to the eternal Heaven – the Kingdom of God.
Abstain from old fleshly habits and put on the armor of God.
