The Absolute Character of God
After salvation, the Holy Spirit, through God’s Word, leads the human soul and spirit into the marvelous light of God’s plan, converting doctrine from something merely understood into full comprehension for our advance, for our application, and for our increasing faith. The Holy Spirit is imperceptible in His behind-the scenes-work of glorifying our Lord Jesus Christ (John 16:12-15).
The Bible describes the believer, when under the Holy Spirit’s silent energizing control, as spiritual (1 Corinthians 6:19,20); filled with the Holy Spirit (Ephesians 5:18); and walking in the Spirit (Galatians 5:16). The filling of the Holy Spirit is imperative for the inhale and exhale of Bible doctrine, which is application in the life of the believer of the Word of God, and the execution of God’s plan for the believer’s life.
Everything about God is based on God’s attributes, which defines God’s character. God’s character is His integrity, which flows from His perfect righteousness. God is absolute authority. From God’s omniscience, He knows perfectly and eternally all that is knowable
God is absolute justice because God is absolute truth. God is absolutely fair in His judgment. His condemnation of sin in Romans 8:3 is mandatory because of His absolute character. God’s love and mercy is demonstrated by our so great salvation from God’s wrath (John 3:16-18; Romans 1:16 and 17).
The greatest demonstration of God’s love is the cross when Christ died as our substitute (Romans 5:8). In every situation, God’s total indivisible person is absolutely involved in all that He is and does. No compromise is ever needed in the realm of perfect righteousness. The absolute character of God is sustained by His absoluteness and His perfect integrity.
