Christian Intellectual Stimulation
Lasting Pleasures vs. Temporary Happiness
Mankind is in a frantic search for happiness—the pleasures which people seek are physical, and physical pleasures are always short lived, futile, and often have future consequences which are many times more harmful than the enjoyment they brought.
Self control and prudence are prerequisites to finding true inner happiness, along with a recognition that fleeting physical pleasures are not the permanent answer to the frantic materialistic search for happiness, and never will be. True inner happiness comes from intellectual stimulation. True intellectual stimulation comes by the inhale and exhale of the Word of God.
Man’s soul is designed by God to respond to God and His Word. In other words, “God making man in his soul image” created a vacuum that is meant to be filled with God, by God.
Volition, then, becomes the key for appropriating God’s grace and building a forever relationship with our Lord and Savior.
Television, movies, sex, violence, pleasures (temporary, physical) are not what brings inner happiness. It is our relationship to God, personally, and His Word resident in us from which we derive total satisfaction and deep, pure, lasting, and true inner happiness. There is no other way; nothing else satisfies as deeply and completely as a true relationship with the Father through Christ in the power of the Holy Spirit.
