Communion is the worship ceremony in which the believer concentrates on the person and saving sacrifice of Jesus Christ (1 Corinthians 11:23-26). Christ commanded “This do in remembrance of Me“ (1 Corinthians 11:24b). The believer is required to be filled with the Holy Spirit so that he/she is in fellowship which is achieved by confession (1 John 1:9), before partaking of Communion.
The bread represents Christ’s suffering body on the cross and your trust in Christ’s finished cross-work. Christ’s shed blood represents his substitutionary spiritual death for you, so that you could live for Him.
Christ died in your place so that after you believe in Him, you would live for and represent Him while He is absent from the earth in Heaven, until He returns to take you to Heaven at the rapture, or until the designated time of your departure, determined by the Lord (1 Thessalonians 4:13-18).
