Blasphemy

Greek word blasphemia means “a curse.” Using the name of God in an irreverent or slanderous way. Taking the name of the Lord in vain breaks the fourth commandment and will be punished (Exodus 20:7). Blasphemy in the Old Testament was punished by stoning.
