In today’s hero-laden world, Americans look for style over substance. They look to celebrities, YouTube stars, social media “influencers,” even video game voice actors as their heroes, instead of the greatest hero of them all — Jesus Christ.
Celebrities, of all things, for the past 50 or more years have changed minds and swayed opinions. This is how weak and neutralized us Americans, and Western society in general, have become.
Celebrities are nothing more than “adult pretenders” — clowns that should shut up and juggle.
With today’s “celebrity worship,” the sublime has become indistinguishable from the ridiculous. The human ego feeds celebrity worship because people long to be validated, they themselves wish to become the worshiped, the glamorous, the rich, the sought-after, the famous. “Look at me!”
Look to Christ instead, believer. Those celebrities have nothing of value to offer you. You will never be one of them. They don’t know you and they couldn’t care less about you.
And none of them died for you.
Movies desensitize morality. The cult of “the celebrityship of Hollywood” is where people look for reality. Television today is all about sex and approbation lust, and the influence is pathetic. Perversion on TV twists our minds and erodes our souls while we laugh the night away, aroused by all types of sexual innuendo.
There was a bumper sticker back in the day that was prevalent for a while. It read, “KILL YOUR TV.” And I couldn’t agree more.
Quit letting the enemy into your home. TV shows and even the news is all a distraction. You can’t change or affect world events, so why bother? God is in control. Whether you know about it or not or go out and act on it or not is irrelevant, and changes nothing.
If you wish to make a difference in the world, a solid one that will change things, grow spiritually.
“As goes the believer, so goes the nation.”
That… is what will “save America.”
Keep your focus on the Lord. He waits patiently for you.
Narcissism, too, changes the very fabric of American culture from corporate executives, government officials, and bankers, obsessed with greed… and no remorse is in them.
Immortality, narcissism, and greed, are just a few of the eroding character traits of America. The wrong heroes lead us the wrong way. When you idolize others, remember that they have feet of clay just like we do.
Generally speaking, today’s generations have never learned discipline. They have no goals, no values, no urgency, no respect, no consideration for others. These value-neutered young people have no real moral restraints, which are essential to the common good of us all. Sex, drugs, and escapism have become a tradition in America and the Western world, defining a tolerant society interested only in instant gratification, sensual pleasure, and self.
Christians must show Christ in themselves by their attitude and their actions.
Christian,
People watch to see what you have in you, and they should see Christ when they do.
Do they?
