Thoughts to Ponder in Your Walk with the Lord (Part Thirty-Three)

Thoughts to Ponder in Your Walk with the Lord

READ, LINGER, PROCESS…

The simple words of John’s Gospel excel in the depths of expressing God’s wisdom and God’s mysteries. John uses simple words to define the depths of deeper meanings. We can know the most profound wisdom of God in simple terms, simple vocabulary. This is how we know that God’s Word is truly inspired.

The light that shines throughout the Bible is God’s light that makes visible God’s intent and meaning—the real meaning of life, eternal life, and eternal God. God’s light is delightful, it lights Scripture, it illuminates—it is literally God’s light.

Christ is the foundation of life, overflowing with the fullness of His Glory.

The nature of God is spiritual, therefore He is invisible to bodily eyes, therefore we live by faith, therefore we see the invisible God.

Secular learning does not expose the minds of humanity to the reception of divine light.

John the Baptist appeared to the Jews somewhat suddenly, as if dropped from Heaven, and they were thinking John must be Elijah. But John denied this as he was not the person of Elijah.

Matthew Henry, in his commentary on the Book of John, stated, “The words of a minister are not likely to thaw the hearers hearts that freeze between the speaker’s lips.”

The phrase “Make straight the way of the Lord” expressed two important things: 1). He is on His way. 2). He is coming to set straight the way of salvation, which the scribes and pharisees had made crooked. “Return to the God of your ancestors, your fathers—return, change your mind (repent), to the original way of faith, not works.”

The Son of God became a Son of man, that the sons and daughters of men might become the sons and daughters of God the Father.

All the children of God are born again; all that are adopted are regenerated.

Christ became one with us, that we might become one with the Father and His adopted children—we are joint heirs with Christ.

Those who advocate that there is no God are themselves a prophet of their own religion.

Religion is man-made, therefore it is corrupt.

Men hold contempt for religion; religion in itself is contemptible.

Men are opposed to religion, and so is God.

Understanding and appreciating God’s love is the proper foundation for human love. God’s love dancing with your soul gives you increased capacity to sustain extraordinary relationships. The ultimate source of God’s love gives meaning and purpose to life in this world.

There is evil in the world, but there is also personal sin there is lust of the flesh.** Sins are the symptoms of a depraved nature. There can be no sin if there is no God. Sin proves God.

Seasons change—the grass withers, the flower fades. We each have our time, in time. We are but food for worms, and the fire shall try every man’s work—your days shall declare it. But the word of the Lord stands forever.

Humility allows God to control the ego and ego-trips by submitting to God’s lordship.

Each pastor, if approved by God, is a prescription from God for the congregation. Teach/preach Christ, not self.

Sustained mercy —I am what I am by the grace of God.
