The Breath Of God

THE BREATH OF GOD

The Word of God was literally “breathed” into the writers of scripture by God the Holy Spirit. This breath is the same breath that God breathes into every human being at physical birth. His breath gives life to all creation, including His living Word – the Bible (The original Greek translated as living is literally alive) Hebrews 4:12.

All life exists because of God. Apart from God there is no life. In 2 Timothy 3:16 the word “inspiration,” in the original Greek, is more literally “God-breathed.” God’s viewpoint, God’s literal thinking, was God-breathed into the original writers of Scripture. Therefore, all books in the Bible are the authentic Words of God, written exactly the way God instructed.

God protects His Word – it shall never perish! The significance of “God-Breathed” is imperative in understanding the infallibility of God’s Word. We can literally know God’s thinking by reading the “Mind of Christ” (1 Corinthians 2:16).

The worlds were framed by the Word of God (Hebrews 11:3). “By the Word of God the heavens were of old. The heavens by the same Word are kept in store” (2 Peter 3:5&7). The sun, moon and stars do exactly as God instructed billions and billions of years ago, when He set them in the heavens and directed their course by means of His “still small voice.”

God “speaks” to us, as it were, with “a still small voice” (1 Kings 19:12). This verse in 1 Kings is better translated: A voice of silence, atomic. A voice of incomprehensible power, yet silent. Silence less than a quiet whisper, yet powerful enough that with one “silent” word, God holds the universe together. In the future, God will destroy the entire universe with one word. Then, with one more word He will create a new Heaven, a new Earth, and an entirely new universe (Revelation 21:1).

It is the humanity of Jesus Christ that makes God physically relatable, understandable, and personable. The more you learn about CHRIST, the more personable God becomes. The more you learn God’s Word, the more personable Christ becomes.

Throughout the Holy Scriptures, the revealed and visible member of the Godhead is always Jesus Christ. You cannot have a personal relationship with Christ apart from His Word and the filling of the Holy Spirit. Your human viewpoint can only become Divine Viewpoint through the intake of Bible Doctrine – the Mind of Christ!

Through Bible Doctrine, the Holy Spirit teaches us “Divine norms and standards.” From God’s norms and standards, we begin to develop Divine viewpoint.

As we study, taking in doctrine daily (you feed your body daily, do so also with your mind and soul), it is stored in our memory banks, ready for application (if you are not applying what you’ve studied and learned, then what are you doing?)

Through study and application, our thinking begins to reflect God’s thinking and we begin to view life with a totally different perspective. In addition, God the Holy Spirit convicts us of right and wrong. Conviction does not mean that you are to feel guilty about anything, rather, conviction means that God is simply telling you in His understanding and patient way, that He is not in control; that habitual sin has come between you and Him. There is no reason to feel guilty. You should feel appreciative, not guilty, then proceed to make an immediate course correction.

Our concept of God, (human viewpoint) is transformed to Divine Viewpoint by the renewing of our mind, through the inculcation of the Word of God (Romans 12:2). The Word of God and the filling of the Holy Spirit are imperative to an effective Christian life as well as for rewards in time and eternity (1 Corinthians 3:11-16; Luke 1:15; Acts 4:8; 9:17; 13:9; Ephesians 5:17,18).

The believer can only have and enjoy TRUE VICTORY in this life through the inculcation of the “Mind of Christ,” Bible Doctrine. You may have many triumphs and much success, even wealth, but apart from Bible Doctrine you have missed the mark; you have profited nothing and lost the most important knowledge in this life or the next (Matthew 16:26; Mark 8:36-39; Luke 9:23-26; Philippians 1:21; 3:7; 1 Timothy 6:5-6).

Happy Inculcating and Studying to you!
