Jesus Christ Our Prince-Ruler, My Ruler-Prince
During His First Advent, Christ (Messiah) earned the title “King of kings and Lord of lords” (1 Timothy 6:15). Our Lord Jesus Christ defeated Satan at the Cross. For winning the strategic victory in the angelic warfare, God the Father gave Him the title above all titles and caused the humanity of Christ to be seated in the highest place of honor — the Right Hand of God.
As members of Christ’s endless royal and divine dynasty, we shall live forever as heirs in the royal family of God. Our King, our Prince-Ruler is the unique person of the universe. Christ is the ultimate celebrity — the superhero sent by God to save us from our sins. Trust Christ for your salvation and you will be saved (Acts 16:31). While we were yet sinners, Christ died for us — the ungodly (Romans 5:8).
Nowhere in Scripture is the uniqueness of the person of Christ so evident as in the Book of Hebrews. May I challenge you to meditate in Hebrews, and as you do, be aware that only God knows for sure who wrote this marvelous Book. Hebrews is attributed to Paul, and although some question his authorship, there is an abundance of evidence in his favor. God deliberately left the authorship anonymous so that the emphasis would be solely on Christ.
According to Dr. Henrietta C. Mears, Hebrews has been called the fifth Gospel. The four describe Christ’s ministry on earth; while Hebrews describes our Lord’s ministry in Heaven at God’s Right Hand. The glories of our Savior are found in this Epistle. Jesus is “the author and perfecter of our faith” (Hebrews 12:2). Christ is “crowned with glory and honor” in the heavens” (Hebrews 2:9). Hebrews is written to Jewish believes in Jesus at Jerusalem, who were wavering in their new faith and reverting back to the Law. Actually, they had left the shadows of the Law and the sacrifices, to receive the real sacrifice — the substance — Jesus Christ.
When I read and meditate in Hebrews, I feel the close-in presence of the whispering Holy Spirit. I feel so inwardly peaceful and reassured. I feel so happy for Jesus and proud to be His Child. I feel so blessed to be a believer-priest, with the invitation to make my thoughts and prayers known to God, to enter into His presence and kneel before Him. I am so honored to know Jesus Christ, my Shepherd Savior … my Prince-Ruler. You will feel this same way too, as you slow down, focus, and meditate in Hebrews.
This same Jesus that man persecuted, rose to the highest Throne. We as believers shall reign with Him for ever and ever. How can any person reject this offer?
The theme of Hebrews is the superiority of Christ … His Highness … His Royal Majesty. Hebrews demonstrates that Christ is superior in His Person and in His Priesthood.
Check out the benediction (chapter 13, verses 20, 21), which tells us that: Jesus is our great Shepherd … we are the sheep. Christ is our sheep-master, and He gave us the Holy Spirit for working in us that which is well pleasing in His sight, through Jesus Christ, to whom be the glory forever and ever. Amen.
Since the Incarnation, all Truth is set forth in Christ. The Old Testament dealt in shadow revelation, but with the first advent of Christ the shadows were removed by the light of His coming and the realities of His presence. WOW! Read that a second time. The eternal record of His Crowning victories over sin, Satan, and death are eternal matters recorded in Scripture and received in heaven.
The greatest story ever told is the ever present story of Truth … the Truth that Jesus Saves! Truth is a person! Jesus Christ is the personification of Truth. We hold these truths to be self evident that Christ died for all men and rose again for our salvation. How is that? How much Love is that? What kind of God would do that? My God, that’s who! Jesus is Messiah and He died just for you. Believe in Him right now and you will be saved (Acts 16:31).
Scripture Truth is recorded so that all mankind, past, present and future, may learn Christ, believe in Him, and become heirs with Him. All honor and glory belong to our Prince-Ruler, forever and ever. Amen.
In closing, we need to realize as believers that our ignorance of God must become cognizant; our uncertainties, confidence; our potential in Christ, reality. Therefore, we must become cognizant of all that Christ IS. In Christ we are filled with hope. Hope is based on potential. When the potential becomes reality, a new hope emerges, and a new potential. We will never run out of room to grow in Christ … our potential is unlimited. More of Christ should always be our next objective. C. S. Craig. 5/03/18
“Seek ye first the kingdom of God and His Righteousness and all these things shall be added unto you.” (Matthew 6:33) “Seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you.” (Matthew 7:7) The Lord is my portion, says my soul, therefore, I have hope in Him. Can you honestly state that you are confident in Truth — His Truth?
